How to Redeem the New Year’s Community Lanterns Code in Dreamlight Valley

To redeem the reward, simply head into your in-game Settings, select Help, and enter the code HAPPYNEWYEAR2026 (all caps-locks and as one word / no spaces). Once redeemed, the Community Lanterns will be delivered directly to your in-game mailbox, ready to place or customise within your builds.

Decorating Ideas for the New Year’s Community Lanterns

The New Year’s Community Lanterns truly shine after dark, casting a soft glow that makes them perfect for nighttime decorating. They fit seamlessly into a variety of themes - from winter and holiday builds, to New Year’s Eve celebrations, party spaces, and even cozy town squares. Their versatility makes them an easy addition to both seasonal layouts and more permanent designs around the Valley.

✨ The Gift of Giving - New Limited-Time Bonus Gifts

The Gift of Giving event continues in Disney Dreamlight Valley, and alongside a variety of Event tasks such as the daily presents and festive fish, there are two bonus gifts available to claim before the event wraps up on December 31.

To claim the bonus gifts, head inside the Dream Castle and make your way over to the Christmas tree (once you enter, go left!). Sitting beside the tree, you’ll find two gift boxes ready to be opened, each containing a special reward.

The first bonus gift unlocks the Even More Miraculous Growth Elixir. This useful potion allows crops to grow instantly and can be applied to up to 50 individual crops, making it a great time-saver for farming-focused players or if you are working through a crop related quest.

The second bonus gift is the North Pole Crafting Station, a festive new crafting station design that adds extra seasonal charm to your Valley. Once unlocked, you can also purchase additional crafting stations from Scrooge McDuck’s Store, if you’d like to use it in multiple areas or builds.

These bonus gifts act as a fun wrap-up to the Gift of Giving event, with exciting rewards tying together the event’s festive theme. Whether you’re collecting for completion’s sake or just enjoy seasonal décor and helpful items, these rewards are well worth grabbing while they’re available.🎄

🔓 How To Unlock Joy



To unlock Joy, you’ll need to open the Inside Out Realm, which can be found in the Dream Castle, and complete the ‘Dream On!’ realm quest. As part of finishing this quest, Emotions Headquarters will need to be constructed. Once construction is complete, Joy will arrive in the Valley and be added to your character collection.

Joy’s home is Emotions Headquarters, inspired by the vibrant control centre from Inside Out. Once constructed during her unlock quest, this location becomes Joy’s base in the Valley, reflecting her upbeat personality while keeping the Emotions theme at the core of its design.

✨ The Gift of Giving - Event Starting

✨ The Gift of Giving Event has officially returned to Disney Dreamlight Valley, bringing with it a cozy new way to celebrate the season with daily surprises and creative rewards - which is the topic of today's entry 🎁

Gift of Giving Event Dates & Daily Gifts

This limited-time event runs from December 17 through December 31, and you'll need to search your Valley for a daily hidden gift, with one appearing each day. Each gift unlocks a brand-new Touch of Magic gift box recipe, allowing you to craft and customise it to suit your personal style. There are seven unique gift box recipes to collect in total, so checking in daily is key.

Once you locate a gift, simply open it from your inventory to unlock the recipe. From there, head to any crafting station and navigate to the Furniture tab, where your newly unlocked gift box will appear and be ready to craft.

How to Craft & Customise Gift Boxes

Each gift box requires:

1 White Daisy

2 Festive Wrapping Paper

Festive Wrapping Paper spawns in the Plaza throughout the event, so be sure to explore regularly while the event is active to collect as many as you can.

After crafting your gift box, you can customise it just like other Touch of Magic items. Open Furniture Mode, select Customise, choose the gift box, and personalise it using patterns, colours, and designs of your choice. Keep in mind that if you’d like to place multiple copies of the same customised gift box around your Valley, you’ll need to craft additional boxes for each placement.

The Gift of Giving Event is a lovely, low-pressure way to add festive charm to your Valley while unlocking creative new decorations. Whether you’re decorating for the holidays or simply enjoy collecting limited-time items, this event offers something special each day.

✨ Villager Overview: Scar

✨ Today’s guide is all about Scar - the cunning and calculating ruler of the Elephant Graveyard in Disney Dreamlight Valley. This visual overview gives you a closer look at Scar in the Valley: how to unlock him, where he lives, his friendship quests, and all the rewards you can unlock as you level him up. 🔓 How To Unlock Scar

Scar becomes available after progressing through the main storyline quests in Dreamlight Valley. To meet him, you must unlock the Sunlit Plateau (7,000 Dreamlight is required to unlock this biome) and complete the story quest 'The Curse'. You will also need to ensure all previous Pillars from the unlocked biomes (the Pillars of Friendship, Courage, Power, and Trust) are restored, which clears the path to Scar’s Cave in the Elephant Graveyard. Once those prerequisites are met, you can access and enter Scar’s home and continue with the main storyline quest 'Nature & Nurture', which ultimately unlocks him and adds him to your character collection.

Unlike typical villager houses that require placing and constructing as part of unlocking, Scar’s Cave is already placed in the Valley within the Sunlit Plateau’s Elephant Graveyard. It’s a cavernous lair inside a giant elephant skull, perfectly matching Scar’s dramatic presence. The cave stays locked until you complete the required story quests, and once accessible, Scar will make it his base in the Valley.

After unlocking the Alice in Wonderland Realm and completing a series of adventurous realm quests, Alice makes her way to the Valley with her signature curiosity and charm. Read on to learn how to unlock her, where she lives, and what rewards she brings, making her such a whimsical addition to the Valley. (As with all posts, click on any image to enlarge) 🐇

🔓 How To Unlock Alice

 

Alice is the endlessly curious heroine of Alice in Wonderland. Known for her thirst for knowledge and imagination far bigger than her world, she brings that same whimsical charm into Disney Dreamlight Valley.

To unlock Alice, you’ll need to open the Alice in Wonderland Realm in the Dream Castle (Dreamlight required), then complete the "Leaving Wonderland" realm quest. During that quest, you’ll be prompted to construct Alice’s House in the Valley, and once her house is built, Alice will become a resident of the Valley, unlocking her entry and joining your existing character collection!

Alice’s cozy cottage reflects her Wonderland roots - painted in soft hues with a whimsical design that’ll add character to any area of your Valley. I still haven't found a permanent spot for her home yet.... I'm tossing up between the Glade of Trust, Forest of Valor, or maybe somewhere in one of the biomes in Everafter - Teapot Falls springs to mind as the potential winner!

Alice's friendship quests are delightful nods to Wonderland lore, and once each friendship quest is completed, you'll receive more friendship rewards to boost your friendship level even further. I personally enjoyed Alice's friendship quests and was delighted by most of the furniture pieces that came with her update, including the "Wonderland Candle", a crafting recipe which is unlocked after completing her level 4 friendship quest!

✨ The Winter Ball Update Arrives Tomorrow!

Today’s entry covers the next update in Disney Dreamlight Valley! ❄️ The Winter Ball update drops tomorrow, bringing Cinderella, a new Star Path, events, and more! I am so ready for the magic, the sparkle, and all the cozy new surprises. Who else is counting down? 🎄

Every update truly feels like one of those milestone moments in the Valley - the kind that reshapes your daily routine, your decorating plans, and even how you explore. With Cinderella stepping into the spotlight, a brand-new Star Path to grind through, and a full lineup of limited-time events, tomorrow marks the start of a very busy (and very sparkly) season.

To help with the current update release time, I’ve outlined a few time zones in the photo below for The Winter Ball update drop so you can be ready to download as soon as it becomes available! Noting Australia and New Zealand will receive the update as the date rolls into December 11. As an Aussie, I’ll be joining you all in the chaos about eight hours after the update releases - and like previously, a double-shot coffee will come first to perk me up! Whether you’re playing in Australia, the US, Europe, or elsewhere, I’m hoping I have you covered.

I still can’t believe Cinderella is finally coming to the game, and I’m surprised it’s taken this long, especially after being teased with her appearance in the game’s original trailer from years ago. In my latest video, I recap last week’s developer update - covering Cinderella’s arrival, the Winter Warmth Star Path, upcoming events, and quality-of-life improvements coming to the game. I’m also hopeful this update will seamlessly blend Cinderella’s story, fashion, and furniture items into the game, just like many previous updates have done.

I can’t wait to dive into this update and check out all the new rewards in the upcoming Star Path! The update will also continue to keep us busy with two in-game seasonal events: The Gift of Giving Event running from December 7 through to December 31, and The Winter Floating Festival beginning January 7 until January 28. ✨ Crafting: Decorative Horse Feeder

✨ I just crafted the Decorative Horse Feeder for my Wishing Alps - the perfect rustic touch for horse care. It’s simple but charming, and you can craft this with Reclaimed Barn Wood, Wheat, Snowball, and Pink and White Crocuses. Now my stable can slowly start to feel more like a real home for my mounts 🪵

After spending some time building and rearranging my ranch space, I realised it was the little practical details that bring everything together - and the Decorative Horse Feeder was exactly what my stable needed. It might seem like a small addition, but once it’s placed, the whole area instantly transforms.

🛠️ Visually, it fits beautifully into the rustic alpine aesthetic of the Wishing Alps, and I'm sure will work in a few other biomes across the Valley - I can totally see this one in the Forest of Valor! This item blends effortlessly into the Wishing Alps environment, especially when paired with other ranch or stable-themed décor. It doesn’t steal attention - instead, it adds to the story of the space.

With the Decorative Horse Feeder in place, my stable feels like it’s coming together, one cozy little upgrade at a time. And between all the new blueprints, crafting items, and furniture pieces, I just know I’ll be making plenty of changes along the way.

✨ Next Update: The Winter Ball Arrives December 10th!

📰 I can hardly believe it - it only seems like yesterday that I first walked into Wishblossom Ranch (with still plenty left to do there), and now the Winter Ball update for Dreamlight Valley drops next week on December 10! While I’m hopeful to get some new Christmas-themed furniture pieces as more sneak peeks roll out later in the week, the update is still shaping up to be everything I’ve been waiting for - and it looks like it’ll keep me busy in the Valley well beyond the next few weeks!

First off - yes, “the one we’ve been waiting for”: Cinderella is finally arriving! She’s locked behind a magical pumpkin enchantment, and it looks like the Fairy Godmother will need our help to break through it. I can't wait to unlock Cinderella, dive into her Friendship Quests (including a grand Valley-wide Friendship Ball!), and earn new friendship rewards along the way

⭐ But that’s not all. Like all previous free content updates, this one isn’t shy about bringing us a brand-new Star Path: the Winter Warmth Star Path! I can’t wait to jump into fresh tasks and start earning the new winter-themed rewards this season brings - including a cute new companion, the Festive Baby Pegasus! It also looks like we’ll be getting a “Cinderella Mega Bundle” in the Premium Shop, with new Dream Styles for both Cinderella and the Fairy Godmother, along with a few other surprises

One thing I’m really intrigued by is the new community-style feature: DreamTeams. Finally - a way to link up with friends (up to seven!), trade items, and share resources. It feels like the perfect excuse to gather your pals for some holiday fun, and I can’t wait to test out all the features that come with this new in-game experience

And if you’ve ever dreaded spending your Star Coins only to regret it later - good news! Scrooge McDuck is making some changes this season with a return policy: you’ll now be able to sell back unwanted furniture items for their original Star Coin price. Plus, new sorting, filtering, and search options in the shop make inventory management a breeze. This is huge, and I’m sure most of us have been wanting this incredibly helpful feature for a long time! ✨

Finally… there are two limited-time events to watch out for:

The Gift of Giving Event (Dec. 17–31): revisit last year’s festive achievements, earn all-new rewards, and log in on December 25 for a special holiday surprise (can be claimed until December 31)

The Winter Floating Festival (Jan. 7–28, 2026): weekly puzzles, floating-island vibes, and more seasonal goodies to round out the winter celebrations. I was particularly excited about the Halloween Floating Festival, so I’m thrilled that something similar is returning for the winter season!

✨ Cooking: Afternoon Tea Set

🍳 Snack and daydream! The Afternoon Tea Set from Wishblossom Ranch is my cooking go-to for something simple yet sweet. There’s something magical about slowing down to enjoy a cozy treat at sunset - and that’s exactly what the Afternoon Tea Set delivers in Dreamlight Valley. Scattered with a mix of savoury and sugary treats, this dish also looks beautiful as a dining-table centrepiece - particularly for a high-tea or mixed-sweets theme! It would even look right at home on a market stall just south of Wishing Way as you wander through a bustling marketplace.

You can make it using Dark Chocolate Coffee Beans, Pearly Barley, a Pincushion Peach, and any vegetable. This Wishblossom Ranch recipe is a subtle but satisfying nod to “taking a break, just for me” - or something to share with the villagers, or a charming display piece for your café. 

It doesn’t take a feast to feel fancy. Sometimes, all you need is a small tea set, a few simple ingredients, and a moment to breathe between adventures. Whether you’re refilling your energy after a long day of gathering, or setting the mood for a quiet evening in the Valley, the Afternoon Tea Set is already one of my early favourites 🌸
