✨ How to Unlock Pluto in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Wondering how to unlock Pluto in Disney Dreamlight Valley? This guide walks through every step of the process, including the quests, Mementos, and final requirements needed to bring Mickey’s loyal companion to your Valley.

Pluto has finally arrived in Disney Dreamlight Valley, and bringing Mickey’s loyal companion to the Valley has been one of the most rewarding unlocks in the game. Unlike most villagers, Pluto isn’t unlocked through a single realm quest or friendship storyline. Instead, his arrival is tied to a longer chain of quests, special collectibles called Mementos, and a final magical ritual that brings him home - making the process a little more involved than most character unlocks. Here’s a step-by-step breakdown of everything you need to do.

Collecting All Mementos

One of the most unique parts of unlocking Pluto is collecting various Mementos - special items tied to different characters and storylines throughout the Valley that are required for Pluto's final summoning quest.

Here are the six Mementos you’ll need and how to get them:

1. The Secret Journal.
This memento is obtained from Jasmine’s Level 10 friendship quest, "Wild, Wild Wishes". Once completed, you'll be given this quest item memento.

2. Kaleidoscope.
This memento is received once you've completed Alice’s Level 10 friendship quest, "A Very Merry Unbirthday".

3. New Comfort Bear.
An item that is unlocked after completing Sadness’ Level 10 friendship quest, "Create a Bear". This is the only memento that won’t appear in your backpack inventory - instead, it can be found in your Furniture menu.

4. Birthday Party Invitation
Earned during the Beauty and the Beast Realm quest "A Guide to Better Castle-Keeping".

5. Nostalgic Instant Photos.
Received once you've completed Cinderella’s Level 7 friendship quest, "A Dream Come True".

6. Pluto’s Collar.

This one involves a few different steps. To start, you'll first need to have the Lady and the Tramp Realm unlocked, and complete the "Meatballs" Realm quest, given by Tramp inside the Lady and the Tramp Realm. Completing this quest rewards you with the Well-Worn Dog Collar.

Next, you'll need to complete all Lady and the Tramp Realm quests and invite Lady and Tramp to live in your Valley. This is an important step because Pluto’s storyline only begins after both characters have officially moved into your village.

Once Lady arrives in the Valley, you’ll receive a letter from Merlin that starts the first of three mysterious, spaghetti-related quests given by Lady:
"The Spaghetti Incident", "Life’s a Meatball", and "A Curious Dish".

These quests revolve around mysterious ingredients appearing throughout the Valley - including rolling spaghetti, magical meatballs, and unusual tomatoes. During these quests, you’ll explore several areas while tracking down strange food items scattered throughout the Valley. Each quest ends with a Memory fragment, slowly revealing Pluto's License

During "A Curious Dish", you'll collect the final of three Memory Orbs, which drops Pluto's License for you to collect. From there, you'll need both the Well-Worn Dog Collar and Pluto's License to craft the final memento: Pluto's Collar. This becomes the sixth and final Memento needed later in the unlock process.

Once you complete all these quests and collect all the required Mementos, the image below confirms what quest items you should have in your inventory, excluding the New Comfort Bear, which is found in your Furniture inventory instead.

These items don’t do anything on their own at first, so it’s easy to forget about them - I personally kept all my Memento quest items stored in one of my storage chests for quick and easy access. Once you’ve collected all six Mementos, "The Moose Hunt" quest from Merlin will begin, bringing Pluto's unlocking journey close to its final step.

During this quest, Merlin will give you the Special Plush Bear Sewing Machine, which replaces the New Comfort Bear as the sixth required quest item.

Merlin will ask you to meet him in the Vitalys Mines - you'll need to ensure you have all six Memento items in your inventory, along with a few extra materials (10 Vitalys Crystals and 15 Stone) that Merlin requires to complete the Memento spell.

Once you have everything ready, you’ll head to the Vitalys Mines in the Sunlit Plateau. Inside the mine, Merlin and Mickey will help open a magical portal connected to Pluto. After following Mickey deeper into the cave, you’ll finally discover Pluto trapped beyond the portal.

Thankfully, freeing him is quick - and once the portal closes, Pluto appears directly in your inventory as a new companion in your Wardrobe menu.

Can Pluto Live in Your Valley?

Unlike most characters in Dreamlight Valley, Pluto doesn’t become a villager with a house or daily dialogue. Instead, he functions as a companion that can follow you around the Valley. You can equip him through the Wardrobe menu by selecting him under Companions, and bring him along while you explore, decorate, or complete quests. Even when not equipped, you'll still see Pluto wandering around nearby as you play - but equipping him ensures he follows you wherever you go.

Is Pluto Worth Unlocking in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

Unlocking Pluto is definitely one of the more complex character unlocks in Disney Dreamlight Valley, but it’s also one of the most rewarding. Between the multi-quest storyline, the Memento collection, and the final portal reveal in the mines, the entire process feels like a celebration of Disney history across multiple worlds.

If you’re still working through the steps, the most important thing is simply to keep progressing through quests and friendships. Once you’ve collected all six Mementos and completed the Lady and the Tramp Realm quests, the final pieces of the puzzle will start to fall into place.

And when Pluto finally joins your valley, it’s hard not to smile watching him run happily alongside Mickey again.

Hopefully this guide helps you track down the final Mementos and bring Pluto home to your Valley! I know I was genuinely excited to finally have him running around my Valley.
